We love good New Year’s resolutions, but let’s be honest: The more extreme they are, the less likely we are to stick with them. Then we beat ourselves up for failing. Instead of setting lofty goals, like dropping 30 pounds, commit to healthier habits that you can maintain for the long haul. Weight loss, as a goal, can be especially frustrating. It’s like going to your job every day with the expectation that it will make you filthy rich — not exactly a goal that’s going to bring daily satisfaction. By focusing instead on your eating and exercise habits, the weight will come off as a result of your healthier lifestyle.
